Audrey Jung is an Anxiety Therapist in Chandler, AZ Serving Phoenix and All of Arizona and California
Some people experience anxiety “all the time.” It may be mental, with worries and concerns. It may be physical, with shaking and upset stomach. Whatever it may be, it’s anxiety that feels like it’s always or frequently there. That is a form of anxiety known as “generalized anxiety disorder,” – though a lot of time, we just call it “anxiety.”
You deserve to live your best life. If anxiety is keeping you from that, then you deserve to work with someone that can help you get your anxiety under control so that you can thrive in the ways you deserve to thrive.
My name is Audrey and I am a therapist that specializes in supporting those with anxiety. Let me help you be the best version of you. Give me a call at (480) 775-6423 or reach out today through my online form and I’ll be in touch soon to schedule an appointment.
What is “Generalized Anxiety” and How is it Different From Other Anxiety?
The system that causes anxiety is meant to serve a purpose. It is meant to keep us safe from dangers. Known as the “fight or flight system,” it sends these chemicals and hormones around our body when we’re faced with danger in order to give us the tools we need to fight or flea:
- It pushes blood from our heart to our muscles to give us strength.
- It dilates our pupils so that we can see movement faster.
- It triggers sweat so that we keep cool while we’re running/fleeing, etc.
If you were face to face with a dinosaur, all of these would be helpful. But, for many of us, the system malfunctions. It is triggering this system without any immediate danger. Because there is no immediate danger, it may even sometimes invent one, making us worry about things that are not scary, or causing us to jump when we see things that are not dangerous.
Generalized anxiety disorder is the term for this type of anxiety – anxiety that feels like it is occurring all or most of the time. Most of the time when we use the word “anxiety’ we’re talking about generalized anxiety disorder. It is when you feel nervous, shaking, worried, sweating, experiencing a fast heartbeat, and more, despite no immediate or apparent danger.
Why You Deserve to Get Help
Anxiety can be so severe that it is life altering. Generalized anxiety is no different. But for many, generalized anxiety disorder *is* manageable. Many people can still lead relatively normal lives despite struggling. They can hold a job, date, start a family – but all the while, they may be struggling with this general feeling of being nervous.
But anxiety is treatable.
Anxiety is something that responds very well to therapy.
You don’t have to struggle like this.
I have met many people that have told me that they didn’t think their anxiety was enough to get treatment. They felt that they didn’t deserve help because they had it “under control.” But anxiety is stressful and upsetting. It touches everything we do and affects what we enjoy and how we see the world.
You don’t deserve to experience that every day, and as a therapist that specializes in anxiety, I know firsthand the difference that therapy can have in the lives of those struggling with generalized anxiety on a regular basis.
