It seems like more and more people describe themselves as “introverts” than ever before. Maybe it’s because we’re on our phones all day, or we work from home, or we find life so overwhelming that we start to feel safer and more comfortable when we’re alone in our room.
Still, what if you actually were NOT an introvert.
What if you’re actually an extrovert, but you have social anxiety?
Many of Us Like Being Alone
Let’s be clear: some people are absolutely introverts, just like some people are certainly extroverts. There are people that really do find comfort from being solo, and find the act of socializing to be excessively draining.
But it is also important to know the difference between social experiences that are draining because we are introverts, and social experiences that are draining because we just struggle with them generally.
Does this sound like you?
- You feel like you’re very shy. You desire to talk to others but it’s hard for you.
- You find large crowds to be especially difficult. You feel more confident the smaller the group.
- On occasion, when you do go out and feel like you had a good time, you come home feeling energized. It’s just that those days do not happen that often.
You can be a shy extrovert. You can also be an extrovert with social anxiety. You can also be an extrovert that prefers smaller groups and finds larger groups to be draining. You can also be an extrovert that still loves alone time.
What we want to figure out together is whether or not you’re unable to be your true self because your social anxiety is holding you back. We want you to be living life in the way that is best for you, not one where mental health challenges are preventing you from living as yourself.
